The IRONMAN European Championship in Frankfurt on Sunday July 5th is my next peak race in 2015. The training schedule, after my victory in IRONMAN South Africa, involved two preparation races: IRONMAN 70.3 Barcelona (3rd place) and 5150 Kraichgau (2nd place). These shorter races provided me with good results and the necessary intensity for next Sunday.

The final 3-week training period I spent at 1850 meters height in Font Romeu. The perfect place for me to prepare for major races. In the past I have already shown that I can perfectly focus and train here with that one goal in mind.

The race appears to be very exciting with last year’s full top 3 (1. Kienle 2. Van Lierde 3. Frodeno) and many outsiders who have shown to be in good shape recently. Without doubt 2015’s biggest race up to now. The media attention shall also be larger than ever before with the reigning German world champion at the start.

As always, I keep starting from my own abilities to deliver a strong performance. The heat wave predicted will make the race extra hard.
